The Best Christmas Ever and the Dumbest Gift I got
This year was a best Christmas ever for me. I didn’t get a darn thing. I know that may sound weird, but its true. It was a conscience choice. I got to call my family, my parents, and my sister. But really when it came to getting something under the tree. My name was not on one of the packages.
Why am I so excited about that? I got to give freely this year. I gave to my children and kept the magic of Christmas alive for them. I have to confess though, I did get baked goods and a Costco gift certificate from my parents. They kept the magic of Christmas live for me too.
You see, I started to not like Christmas when I got things I just did not want… I mean somethings I just couldn’t figure out what to do with. Then that made me feel bad, I wanted to feel thankful but it was hard. I would have appreciated a simple card. I felt aweful that they spent their money and I just liked who got me the gifts.
This of course started the spiral, I have to get you something too and the whole exchange thing. Its funny to think that people go all out at Christmas, and I appreciate that, but while the stores are finally getting into “the Black” hence the “Black Friday Sales.” The “consumers” tend to go into the, “red.”
I laugh at it now, but the worst gift I recieved was a calander from my aunt and uncle. At an age when calanders I wanted were of girls, fantasy art, or cars, I got a full 12 months of a donkey dressed up with identities. Such as a donkey dressed up like the traditional nerd, and identified as “Smart Ass.” It is funny now but I had to put on the face for it then. And I love them still today.
So in the end, I had this year the Best Christmas Ever and it started with the dumbest gift ever.
What is the dumbest gift you ever got?
